I. Allocating MoreMemory to a Program
 

1. Open the hard drive, and go to the folder that contains theprogram
    If you can't find it, you can find it through anyalias of it (alias's label text is in italics)
    by doing the following:
    (Otherwise, skip this section and proceed to step2)
    a. Click once on the alias's icon to highlight it(aliases' names are in italics)
    b. Go under the File menu and choose "Get Info..."
    c. Click the button on the bottom right that says"Find Original"
    d. A new window will open (which will be the folderthat contains the original)
2. Click once on the program's icon to highlight it
3. Go under the File menu and choose "Get Info..."
MacOS's up to and including OS 8.1:
4a. Raise the preferred size up to twice as much as the suggestedsize
    --It is unnecessary to raise the minimum size
       (if anything, set it to equalthe suggested size)
    --Be careful not to raise it too high; leave enoughRAM available
       so they can still open other programs
MacOS 8.5 and higher:
4b. Pull down the "Show" menu at the bottom of the window andselect "Memory".
      Raise the preferred size up to twiceas much as the suggested size
      --It is unnecessary to raise the minimumsize
         (if anything, setit to equal the suggested size)
      --Be careful not to raise it too high;leave enough RAM available
         so they can stillopen other programs
 

II. Getting Info on any File
 

1. Open the hard drive, and go to the folder that contains theprogram
2. Click once on the program's icon to highlight it
3. Go under the File menu and choose "Get Info..."
    Here you can determine file size, creation and modifieddates,
    program version, memory allocation, comments, etc.
 
 

III. Checking the Version ofa Program
 

1. Open the hard drive, and go to the folder that contains theprogram

4. Toward the middle-top of the window, it will show you theprogram's version
